The Nana Yobo Lab at Texas A&M University uses geochemistry to investigate how Earth’s surface environments have evolved through deep time. We integrate isotope geochemistry, biogeochemistry, stratigraphy, geochronology, and numerical modeling to reconstruct major events in Earth history and understand the processes that drove them.
Our group uses non-traditional radiogenic and stable metal isotopes, platinum-group element (PGE) geochemistry, and other geochemical tools to decode past environmental events—from changes in ocean chemistry and oceanic anoxic events to major climatic transitions and mass extinctions. By combining geochemical records with stratigraphic observations and numerical models, we investigate how interactions among the solid Earth, oceans, atmosphere, and biosphere have shaped the Earth system through time.
